March 2021 News with the full re-opening of schools
With the full return of schools on 8th March, we have returned to placing more of our Teachers and Teaching Assistants back into day to day and long-term supply roles and it’s good to be back. A lot of the team were already in schools supporting children of key workers who remained in education throughout the lockdown.
We are aware that teachers on a contract at schools are being encouraged to carry out Covid 19 Lateral flow tests. The lateral flow tests are used to identify those people who do not have symptoms. These tests are trying to find people who may have no symptoms but are infectious.
Some of our long-term supply staff in schools are being invited to collect these tests from the school they are working in. We are aware that day to day supply may not have this option so please be aware that you can arrange a lateral flow test following the link below, at Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre, a mobile testing site or at a local community pharmacy.
We are also in the process of obtaining testing kits at ESL and if you do require testing kits from us please do send an email and we will advise a suitable time for you to collect from the office.
Please ensure that you keep in touch with the office regarding your availability as schools are re-engaging with us regarding their requirements for the remainder of the Academic Year.
In January with the announcement of the third national lockdown, we made sure all eligible team members were placed on furlough as soon as possible as we were committed to supporting the team during testing times. We have kept in close touch with our supply team throughout the pandemic and had some lovely feedback, it has been important and appreciated to have those connections during the last year.
We hope that we continue to see virus levels decreasing and that children will remain in education from now on in a safe and secure environment.
